Plenty Much Love

On this page you are going to read some things that
you have probably read on almost every Folks page you have
visited... but there is an important message in these pages,
that sadly, most of us are not getting. In my opinion, you
must do whatever you can, whenever you can in order to succeed
in your goals in anything you are trying to accomplish. Even
if you don’t meet all your goals, if you have done everything
you can to reach them, in my eyes you are a success. Real
success comes from not giving up. This is a daily struggle.
Each and every day of our lives we should give 100% to meet
our goals, and even if we never meet all of our goals, we
know that we have done the best we can. If we are to grow
and develop, we must set goals for the betterment of our
nation.

In order to achieve our goals, we must start
small. In our nation, we have rules that, if broken, are
subject to repercussion. This has a very important lesson.
If you, for instance, steal, one day you will suffer the
consequences of it. We need to watch our brothers and
sisters and report any broken laws to our superiors. This
may seem like snitching, but it is this very thing that is
dragging our nation down. We our looked upon by the media,
the school systems, the police, and the government as a
nuisance. We are referred to as gang bangers and hoodlums.
It is because of what our misinformed or rebellious brothers
and sisters are doing. We must enforce our laws, so that we
can be recognized as an civilized organization working towards
a better living condition for all of our people.

Our communities are filled with people who, if
they were not addicts, would be very good citizens. Drugs
and alcohol ruin families, communities, and our nation. We
must fight drugs and alcohol tooth and nail. The chaos in
our streets, our family members on lock down, and half of
our fight are because of addictions. Many of our brothers
and sisters are either addicted to or selling drugs. Drugs
and alcohol are the cause of our community "melt downs."
Just reporting our brothers and sisters who use or deal
is not enough. We must make sure there is help in our
communities for these problems. We must have speakers at
our community centers to inform the children of the effects
of drug and alcohol abuse. Our communities will never
be better if we can't get our people clean.

When people come into our communities, what
do they see? They see trash, piles of junk, and other
debris scattered all around our living areas. They feel
we are nasty people who don’t take care of ourselves.
Cleaning up our communities, though it is a very important
job, is something that no one in our community really wants
to do. I’m sure we’d all love for our neighborhoods to
look better, but we don’t want to do it. However,
community service is a great form of recognition. This
would shock the media and all people who have made these
generalizations about us, making our communities beautiful
at the same time. Organize a community clean up. If
everyone works together, it won’t take long at all. To
make it more interesting and to get more participation,
have a neighborhood barbecue or party afterwards. Nevertheless,
this is a very important job that needs to be done soon.

Our dream is to get Folks into political office.
How do we do that if the majority of us didn’t go to
college or even finish high school? If you quit high
school, enroll in a G.E.D. class now. The classes don’t
last very long, and they are usually free. Then, go to
college, trade school, or some sort of work training
program. I know college is expensive, but there are
programs to help you. Would you want an uneducated
person in office or in any authoritative position?
Take a course in politics... we need to know everything
about politics in order to be heard. Read the newspaper,
find out what is going on in the world. News articles
often make me feel dumb because I never have a clue as to
who they are talking about when I do happen to pick one
up. This lets me know I should read a lot more often.
Reading the paper gives you an awareness of what people are
saying about you, for one, and also, what you are up against.
Be sure to vote, this is the only way we get any say so in
government. In order to better our communities, we must first
better ourselves.

Write a letter to the editor of your newspaper.
Pick out a topic and give your opinion. It could be a
complaint or positive feedback. Be sure to include your
name and that you are a member of Folks and include your
rank. Read over it and make sure you did not write in
slang and used correct grammar and punctuation. If you
don’t, this actually takes us a step farther back. Show
everyone that you are educated and care about your
community.

Organize activities for the kids of your community.
We have to teach our children that there is a right way to
live and a wrong way. Keep activities going all the time,
so that they don’t get bored and end up in trouble. Many
areas have community centers, put them to use. Stay active
with the kids of your area and set an example for them to
follow. Children are our future, we must guide them in life,
so that condition of life for our communities will get better
in the future.

When our government makes a mistake, which is
a lot, we must fight it. Organize protests for laws that are
wrong. When anything is going to court, show your opinion
through protest. This is one of your constitutional rights,
and a very good way to show your opinion. Write letters to
your officials, tell them how they are doing. If you are
giving negative feedback, make sure it is constructive
criticism. As with a letter to the editor, include that
you are a member of the Folks organization, and be sure to
proofread for mistakes.
